Skiing and Snowboarding
Mount Baker has the longest ski season
in the state and one of the most scenic. For information call

Whale Watching
Take a boat trip through the San Juan
Islands and see the resident Orca Whales. There are 3 resident
pods in the Northwest.
Eagle Watching
From November to late February up to
600 Bald Eagles are attracted to the local lakes and rivers
feeding on the spawning and dying salmon.
Golfing
If golf is your passion we have more
golf courses per capita than any other city in Washington
State.

Cruise the Pacific Northwest aboard a tall ship! The Schooner Zodiac offers

with both beginning and experienced climbers.

If you are one of the curious, Salmon
swim up many of our rivers and creeks to spawn.
Bicycling
With designated Greenway trails and miles
of country roads there are endless opportunity for safe and
enjoyable rides.
Hang
Gliding and Para Sailing
There is a 700’ vertical drop off
Black Mountain (elev. 5220’) landing in Silver Lake
Park.
Theater
Mount Baker theater hosts the touring
Broadway Musicals, dance concerts and other events. The Pickford
theater shows foreign and art films. There are also 3 cinemas
in Bellingham.
Shopping
For some, shopping is a recreational
sport. We have the Bellis Fair Mall with 150 stores, Sunset
Square Shopping Center, Fred Meyer Shopping Center, Burlington
Outlet Mall 24 miles south and the Peace Arch Factory Outlet
17 miles north. Downtown shopping is a treat with its different
stores as well as the Fairhaven District.
